One week from today a teacher who may remain nameless (but writes a blog called Fabulous in First), will turn the big 3-2! Oh—my—word!
So, I thought… what better way to celebrate, than a little ole’ giveaway? The winner will be chosen one week from today when I’m one year wiser (not older… just wiser). The winner will win anything they’d like from my TpT store. If that means everything, then I’ll send it all. Just let me know.
If you’d like to enter you can:
1. Become a follower of this blog.
2. Follow my TpT store.
3. Grab my button.
4. Tell me something fun you do for your students on their birthdays.
Good luck and happy teaching friends!

On my student's birthday the whole class makes the birthday girl or boy their own birthday book.
This is the 1st year I have taught in a setting that celebrated birthdays. the room moms would bring treats. We would divide into groups and rotate through stations – eating, stuffing bags, and usually a 3rd that included a craft.

On each child's bday, they get a foil-wrapped dingdong with a candle. We sing happy bday and they pretend to blow out the candle, but then they take it home to use at their own house.
Well, I'm slack celebrator this year….my buddies have a "blow up" birthday cake…like you'd see in yards at Christmas and they blow those up in their classrooms on kid's B-days!! Love it and am stealing that idea when I can find one!!!
Here is a post about my cupcake cones and a fabulous read aloud for the Non Birthdays in my classroom.

My students get to have a special birthday cake chair cover on their special day, wear a funny birthday hat, get a special school supply from me, and a cupcake.
As a seven year old, I told my mother she was ancient when she turned 32. Boy, did that change, when I became 32. Enjoy your early 30s. 🙂
I follow both your blog and TPT. Love them both!
Many years ago one of my students asked why we don't get "birthday spankings" in school like we can at home? Try explaining that one… anyhow, I came up with either birthday kisses (I have a beautiful "magic wand" that they can get kisses on the top of their head with) OR birthday high-fives (boys especially like this one) and they LOVE it! I also let them create/decorate their own birthday crown to wear for the day!

On my kiddos birthdays we sing Happy Birthday and they get a pencil, eraser, sticker pack, bookmark and certificate with their name and birthday on it. 🙂
We make birthday books for each birthday. Each student gets a sheet of birthday paper and writes a friendly letter to the birthday kid. I collect all the letters and bind them into a book. The birthday kid gets to decorate the cover while everyone else is writing letters. It is a big hit! The kids love to read what was written about them. Most kids hang on to their books.

On each child's birthday (or half birthday if they have a summer birthday) they get a special birthday crown, a birthday sticker, a birthday book from the principal that they get to pick out themselves and we sing happy birthday. If they bring in birthday treats or goodies they are passed out to all of the students as we get ready to go home.

For each child's birthday, the other students each think of one item he/she would like to give the birthday child. The catch: The gift must begin with the first letter of the birthday child's first name. This year, Taylor "received" a toucan. We put all of this in an interactive writing the child gets to take home. Your name is easy, you should just get MONEY! Happy Birthday!

On birthdays, the kiddos get to wear a crown, sport a birthday ribbon, take home a nifty certificate and they get a nifty birthday pencil from yours truly.I will also usually do a birthday unit in the middle of the school year, usually in January where we celebrate all birthdays, and make a class book.
My kiddos get a crown, sticker, certificate, pencil, activity sheet, and special happy birthday chair cover… and they love to know whose birthday is coming up on our calendar!

We always to birthday hats. The kiddos get to sit in a special birthday cake chair that I painted…part garage sale find, part crafty paint skills. They also get the quintessential birthday pencil from the teacher and of course we sing!

For birthdays, we always say "We wish you many, many more and hope you'll spend them all with us." I am lucky enough to teach in a K-8 school so hopefully all of these students will stay with us for a long time. Love this tradition!

Hi:) I follow your blog and your TpT store! Thanks:)
On my students' birthdays I always read Happy Birthday to You by Dr. Seuss. Then, I take their picture and celebrate with treats provided by the family. That evening, the student takes home our "Birthday Bag" where they write a few sentences about what they did on their special day and of course, draw a picture:)

Birthday kids get a balloon taped to the back of their chairs. In all the years, I've never had one pop. On the dry erase easel, I write "Happy Birthday So and So!" All the kids write a message around it to the birthday kid. Then I take a picture of the child standing next to the easel wearing the birthday hat (this takes the place of all the cards…though, I encourage the others to make cards at home and bring them if they want to do something extra special). And we even sing Happy Birthday in the cafeteria at lunch. Usually, the whole cafeteria ends up joining in and it's a blast! Parents are allowed to send in cupcakes at lunch time. Finally, and it's probably their favorite because it's just so silly…I'll ask the student how old they are. They'll say 8 and I'll say, "80, wow you're old, but not a speck of gray hair or wrinkles!" The kids will shout "8." And I'll say "18?" "What are you doing in 2nd grade?" And it keeps going on until I finally hear it right. Birthdays are huge!

We celebrate birthdays by singing before treats (if they have them). The kids get to wear a birthday girl/boy pin ($1 at Target!) and be first in line everywhere (they LOVE this!). Finally, I have a bunch of $1 books from scholastic and they get to pick a birthday book!
My teammate has birthday bags all made up at the beginning of the year and the kids get to pull one off when it is their special day, I may steal this idea next year!
Girl, I've got undies older than 32!!! Seriously, though, I am a devout follower!

In my class, the birthday girl/boy gets a bag of goodies from me – pencil, bookmark, noisemaker, bubbles. They wear a birthday crown all day. Their name is announced on the loudspeaker during morning announcements then they go to the principal's office for a special pencil. Also, each student completes a page for the honoree's Birthday Book about what they would give the honoree as a gift – Ex: Joe would give Tom a rocket. They then illustrate their page. I then bind them. The books turn out so cute and the kids are so creative with their 'wish gifts.'

We make birthday books! Everyone (teacher included) makes a page by coloring a cake and writing a note to the birthday girl/boy. I assemble the book, we sing Happy Birthday, and then the birthday person reads and shares the cake pictures with the whole class. They love it! And it's awesome to see how their writing skills change in each book. 🙂
